America loves chocolate! Young and old alike, chocolate is one of everyone’s favorite treats. In fact, many of my clients ask for chocolate to be in their Lifestyle Diet Plans because they simply can not live without their favorite treat. I’m always sensitive to this and offer simple recipes to help but when it comes to just wanting to bite into a piece of chocolate candy, my Grain Free Quick Cake or Breakfast Egg Muffin don’t always satisfy the craving.
In my search for the perfect candy bar for someone to buy I realized that most chocolate bars contain high fructose corn syrup, GMO’s, partially hydrogenated oils, artificial colors, artificial flavors and preservatives. Why would we want to put any of these chemicals and fake foods into our body when we can make a delicious, clean and easy chocolate in just 30 minutes?
My recipe is simple but you can change it up and add different ingredients such as a natural nut butter, coconut flakes or even some dried fruit. This recipe is detox friendly so you can enjoy 2 squares of it in exchange for your evening snack on BodyDesigns Two-Week Detox Plan. Make up a batch for the entire family and keep it in the freezer in an airtight container so it remains fresh.
Dark Carob or Chocolate Almond Bark
1. Melt coconut oil and place in medium size mixing bowl.
2. Mix all other ingredients into bowl and whisk until mixed together.
Line a small glass pan with wax or parchment paper. Pour the chocolate mixture into the pan and place in freezer for 30 minutes. If desired, score the chocolate after 10 minutes in the freezer so that it breaks off into pieces. Break it up and store it in a covered container in the freezer.
