Client Spotlight on Parna – Slow and Steady for the Win
Parna came to me a year ago wanting to lose weight, learn how to eat healthier and commit to a healthy lifestyle. She was 180 lbs. and 39% body fat. At just 20 years old she really wanted to get this weight off before it got any worse.
She had been going to the gym but stopped with COVID. She was ready to start exercising regularly with Peloton cycle classes and jogging. Her current diet was mostly plant-based but her lack of accountability was leading her to eat too many calories. She would skip breakfast, eat a light lunch and snack during the afternoon. She was lacking in protein, vitamins and minerals from her diet being mostly grains and processed foods. The good news was that she loved all healthy foods and was motivated to make a change.
Parna began with BodyDesigns Two-Week Detox Plan and lost 6.6 lbs. She loved the way she felt and began her Lifestyle Diet Plan. She was consistent with logging her food and reached out with help on her diet when needed. She choose to weigh herself just once a month and was patient with her weight loss, never giving up even if she didn’t lose much at the weigh in.
Flash forward a year later and Parna is down 40 lbs. and lost 14 % body fat. She is running and doing spin classes regularly and eating an amazing, balanced plant-based diet. She now gets her protein and other nutrients she needs without overdoing the higher glycemic foods.
When I asked Parna what helped her be successful she told me:
1. Keeping a food log and having daily feedback was the key for me. At first, I would go off track but Mary was able to explain why and what to do next time so that I learned how to make this a lifestyle, not just a diet.
2. Increasing my exercise and making it a regular habit not only made me feel great but helped tone me up and look better.
3. Feeling good about myself was its own reward to keep me motivated, even when weight loss was slow.
