Some of My Favorite Things – Lotions, Creams and Such
Creams, lotions, shampoos and deodorants make up just a few of the many things we put on our body each day. Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in your body? We absorb most of the ingredients that we put on our skin so if your lotions, bug sprays etc. are full of chemicals or even gluten this can get into your blood steam and affect your health. That’s why I wanted this section of favorite things so that people can have some ideas on where to turn for safe, effective body products. Take note that for some of these products I am balancing effectiveness with the ability to have a completely all natural, safe product. For example, you don’t want an eye cream that doesn’t work right? So I have tried to find the most effective and safe for your choices. In any case, these are my favorites and what I use for myself.

Utama Spice Cocoa Love – We cover our body with lotion daily so this MUST be free from harmful chemicals since it covers such a large area. This all-natural body butter is made with just 5 natural ingredients. Smell and feel the luxury of this cream which contains cocoa butter, coconut oil, cinnamon bark and fruit. It will remind you of the old fashioned cocoa butter we used to use for stretch marks and smells like you just got off the beach.
Utama Island Spice Coconut Lotion – If you prefer a tropical scent and lotion verses a butter this is amazing. Made with natural coconut oil that locks in moisture with a non-greasy feel, lotion absorbs quickly and lasts all day. Purlisse Watermelon and Charcoal Cleanser – Purify and cleanse with one step. This gel smells amazing and contains activated charcoal, white tea and whole oat to gently wash away dirt and toxins. The watermelon has vitamins A, B6 and C to keep skin hydrated. Natural, vegan and cruelty-free this face wash has no parabens, petrochemicals, propylene glycol and phthlates. It leaves my skin feeling soft not dried out yet it has a little abrasive to it for light exfoliation.
ROC Day and Night Combo Pack – ROC comes from France and has been my very favorite face cream for years. I’ve switched and tried others but always come back to ROC. It has anti -aging ingredients like zinc, retinol, magnesium, and copper. The daytime one also has a 30 SPF protection. ROC brand is allergy free and free from harmful hormone-altering chemicals that may affect teen development or disrupt hormones at any stage of life, such as Phthalates, Parabens, Triclosan, Benzophenone-3 and related ingredients. I use this over my Restoracell as a daily sunscreen.
Rodan and Fields Redefine Eye Cream – I have searched high and low for an eye cream that works and I have landed with this one which is often referred to as “eye crack” because it works so well. Rodan and Fields never tests their products on animals and this is paraban free. I’m thrilled with the results and think you will be too!
Uncle Bud’s Organic Hemp Seed Oil Hand Sanitizer – In a COVID world and probably for some time to come, hand sanitizer will become one of your must have items. Most importantly we want it to be effective with 70% ethyl alcohol but since we use this frequently we also don’t want it to dry out our hands or feel sticky after we put it on. This has become my pick because of its organic ingredients that leave my hands feeling moisturized and not sticky.
Sky Organics Organic Bug Spray – Sky uses citronella oil, lavender oil and lemongrass essential oil to repel those bugs and insects that are so bothersome in the summer. Unlike most bug sprays that contain harmful DEET, alcohol and other harsh ingredients this one is sourced from all natural, vegan organic ingredients. You won’t worry when you spray the kids with this one.
Babo Botanicals Sunscreen for Face – This extra light and sheer sunscreen is not only free from harmful ingredients but goes on clear. Get great protection with SPF 40 without having a thick white residue on your face. You can easily apply makeup on top.
Think Sport Sunscreen – This sunscreen is free from all harmful ingredients and can be used all over your body. You might buy the kids version but the whole family can use this non greasy formula without any smell or white residue on the skin. It has an SPF of 50 and is waterproof for up to 80 minutes. Perfect for the beach or anytime.
Wellkiss Lip Balm – Another product I love by Utama Spice. Nothing and I mean nothing is artificial in these products and our lips should definitely not have anything toxic touching them. This product is made from virgin coconut oil and beeswax infused with citrus leaf, lemon, fennel and lavender essential oils to lock in moisture.
Native Deodorant – Native continues to always rank number 1 for an all natural deodorant that actually works. This one is free from aluminum, parabens, phthalates and talc. Goes on easy, smells nice and works!
Pureology Smooth Perfection Shampoo – Pureology products stand up to their name of being as pure as possible and still doing the trick. They might be a bit pricey but your hair is going love it. Paraban and sulfate free as well as all vegan. I like this one but they have many other options to choose from depending on your hair type.

Aveda Smooth Infusion – Aveda products are known for being plant-based and as natural as possible. They are all sulfate free and do not use any SLS or SLES. They do use a little bit of ammonium lauryl sulfate derived from coconut and coco-babassu derived from coconut too. This leaves my hair frizz free in humid weather without any greasy residue.
