Losing Weight After 60
Linda first came to me last February with her husband Steve. Both retired in their late 60’s they decided that it was time to get their health in order and lose some unwanted pounds. Neither of them were watching what they ate but they were walking about 3 times a week to get some exercise.
Linda and her husband had been in the habit of eating out several meals throughout the week even though they had plenty of time to cook. Linda even admitted that although she had time to cook, she started taking the easy way by eating out and buying packaged convenience foods to eat in the house. I explained to both of them the importance of eating real food and taking the time to prepare the proper food and nutrition that we put into our bodies.
After 2 weeks on the Detox Plan Linda had lost 8 lbs. and Steve lost 13 lbs. Linda was surprised that her sweet and high carb cravings were significantly reduced, and she actually enjoyed getting back in the kitchen and cooking meals. I continued to follow Linda for a few months as she began her new Lifestyle Diet Plan. I was impressed by all of my recipes that she prepared, and she and her husband became quite enthusiastic about eating real food at home rather than eating out all the time. Once a week they would treat themselves to a cheat meal out at a restaurant but at home all their food was mostly organic, home cooked, real food.
Linda lost 15 lbs. and decided it was time to pick up the pace with some exercise. She started weight training with me in May at continued with her sessions until she reached her goal weight a few months later. Today she has lost 30 lbs., increased muscle mass which is so important at her age, and most of all learned how to eat for optimal health and wellness for the rest of her life.
When I asked her what made her successful she told me:
1. Starting with the Detox Plan really significantly reduced my sweet and high carb cravings and set me up for success to follow.
2. Having my husband Steve on board was also a key factor in my success. He always supported me and was with me every step of the way incorporating our new recipes and foods into our life.
3. The nutrition monitoring where Mary checked my food logs each day kept me accountable and helped me to continue to learn the best ways to manage my weight.
Congratulations Linda (and Steve) for really making a change in your life and reaping the rewards of lasting health and wellness for many years to come.
