Client Spotlight on Jim – Commitment, Knowledge and Accountability for Successful Weight Loss
Jim’s wife contacted me and asked if I would help her husband with his diet. Jim was willing to give it a shot even though he didn’t think he was eating poorly. At 73 years old he had fatty liver, inflammation in his joints, borderline hypertension and high cholesterol. His weight was 230 and his ideal weight was 195. He was trying to do some exercise but was not consistent.
When I looked at his typical diet he included a lot of healthy foods but he was also including too much wine and eating out frequently. The biggest issue I saw was that he just wasn’t accountable to what he was eating and didn’t realize the macronutrients and calories he was consuming.
He started out with my Two-Week Detox Plan and lost 14.8 lbs. right off the bat. Losing this much weight on the Detox Plan showed me that he was definitely consuming more food than he thought and most likely had some inflammation. Jim also started walking on a regular basis. He continued to follow his Lifestyle Diet Plan and lost 13 more pounds for a total of 28 lbs. in just 8 weeks. He really embraced the changes, loved the way he felt and even kept his weight off while traveling abroad for 2 weeks.
When I asked Jim what made the program successful for him he told me this:
“I started this adventure with you thinking I was smarter than I was. I thought I was eating fairly well, for instance. Now I realize 8 weeks after starting this adventure, I had half the knowledge, half the commitment, and none of a program. What I learned was that it takes equal parts of all three. You boosted my knowledge, you gave me the program, but I had to make the commitment to lose 28 pounds in 8 weeks on my way to reach my goal of losing 35 pounds. All three ingredients in your recipe were needed, but I could not have had this success with all the commitment in the world and no program and missing pieces of knowledge. After 10 weeks,”1″ is now the first number on my scale and I am 1 pound from my original goal even after traveling for 2 weeks, and will probably extend the goal to lop off a few more pounds. I am feeling loads better, and buying new clothes to go with the ones in my closet that I can now wear once again. Now I know how to do what needs to be done, I now am confident that I can fly on my own, thanks to your coaching.”
I am thrilled with how quickly Jim turned around his weight and health issues. Even with traveling for 2 weeks Jim is now just 1 lb. from his goal weight and feels amazing. Congratulations Jim and I wish you the best of health always as you continue your journey using food as your medicine for optimal health and wellness.
