How to Stop Yo Yo Dieting
At 46 years old Barbara found herself in a constant struggle with her weight. Menopausal changes were beginning to set in and she struggled to lose weight. When Barbara started with me she weighed in at 152 pounds. To be realistic she set her weight goal at 139. She had maintained a weight in the 140’s for the past year and thought it was more realistic to set her goal a bit higher than she really wanted to reach. Ideally, 128-130 was where she would have liked to be since it was her weight before she began her weight loss struggles. She never dreamed clean eating would get her there!
Barbara set a long term goal to keep weight off for good
Her goals were to learn how to eat healthy for the long term, to lose the remainder of her weight and maintain it, and to lower her percentage of body fat. She also wanted to be healthy to prevent heart disease, which ran in the family, tone up and feel better. She had inflammation and gut issues which made it hard to feel good.
She was already an avid exerciser so we didn’t change her exercise plan at all since Barbara was already doing high intensity cardio mixed in with weights on alternate days. Our focus was strictly on diet. which was somewhat erratic. Although she liked a lot of healthy foods, her diet included a large cup of ice cream several nights a week and chemicals from processed “health” foods such as GNC shakes and artificial creamers. She was eating large amounts of dairy and some gluten.
