Combining Exercise and Diet for Weight Loss Success

Stacie first met with me at the end of March. She had never been a dieter and was in good health but she found herself at 50 years old feeling frumpy and out of shape. Her weight had crept up to 196 lbs. and she was ready to make a change for her health and to feel better about herself. Her goal was to reduce her size to a 10 and hit a goal weight of 160.  Stacy had been exercising in the past. She had hired trainers and worked out on a regular basis however, she just wasn’t losing any significant amount of weight.  She took a look at her picture of herself from Christmas time and decided she had to try something new and try to include diet this time.  She googled nutrition and exercise and found my Lifestyles Weight Management Program.

Stacie (left) before combining diet – she saw this photo of herself and decided she was ready for a change.

When I took a look at her diet, I found she was eating a lot of hidden sugar and fast food. She didn’t cook much at all since it was just for herself and was in the habit of just buying some processed, easy to grab foods along with driving through a fast food restaurant most evenings.

She signed up for my Lifestyles Weight Management System, which includes both in person and online personal training, a diet plan and coaching. She liked healthy foods and embraced the idea of cooking and starting a new lifestyle for her.

She began her program at 39% body fat and 196 lbs. She started with BodyDesigns Two Week Detox Plan and lost 8.5 lbs. Immediately she took to the kitchen prepping food for the week, bringing lunch to work and planning in advance what she was going to eat for meals and snacks. She found time to exercise and even on vacations she ate well and kept up her healthy habits.

Watching Stacie transform her body was both amazing and rewarding – she was truly the “teachers’ pet” most weeks with perfect planning and execution of meals and snacks. Her weight loss was consistent each week as her dedication paid off. After just 4 months, Stacie dropped over 30 lbs. and 6% body fat and almost 15 inches. She went from a size 14 to a size 10, getting back into all her old clothes.

When I asked her what helped her to be successful she told me this:

1. The detox plan took care of my sugar and carb cravings so the rest of it was just a matter of being dedicated and finding time to plan.
2. Learning about food and exercise was a huge help to me because I thought I should focus on low-fat foods in my diet but that was wrong and never really helped my weight long-term. It was eye opening to learn about how food effects our health and I was determined to make the second half of my life a healthy one.
3. Logging my food allowed Mary to coach me and answer questions or help me along the way, which kept me on track during challenging times.

Stacie has truly embraced her new lifestyle and I am confident she will continue to have success in both her weight and her health in the future. I wish her the best of health always!
