Client Spotlight on Linda – How to Reduce Arthritic Pain with Diet
Linda came to me in December wanting to get ready to start the New Year off with some goals. She was struggling to lose weight, had arthritic pain and was not exercising at all. She really set her “why” on wanting to move again without pain and lose weight in the new year.
When I looked at her diet I found several reasons she was feeling inflamed. She was drinking diet soda’s with harmful ingredients, eating processed foods that were high in sugar and low in nutrition as well as eating out for fast food for lunch each day. Meals were high calorie and inflammatory while snacks were full of sugar. At the time she was not doing any exercise but was willing and able to start walking with a goal of 10,000 steps per day.
True to her word, January 1st she weighed in and began a two week reset with BodyDesigns Two-Week Detox Plan. During this time she lost 10 lbs., her pain decreased so much she no longer needed water aerobics for exercise and her skin improved. She told me she felt great as she began her Lifestyle Diet Plan where she faithfully was consistent with logging and accountability. She prepared several of my recipes each week, choose all organic, healthy foods, met her daily protein and fiber requirements and loved how she was eating and feeling. Linda has now lost a total of 20 lbs. and is just 10 lbs. from her final goal. The weight after the Detox has come off steadily as she stayed the course, feeling so great that she was not concerned with the pace of the weight loss. In addition, her added exercise was helping her build and maintain muscle mass.

Linda is giving me a lot of credit here but the truth is that she took the ownership of this from the beginning. I can teach you what to do but you need to embrace change and really be consistent and disciplined with your actions and Linda was all of that and more. She consistently planned meals using real food, healthy recipes and was disciplined logging and being accountable. At the same time though she was patient and trusted the process – real fat loss is slow and enjoying how you feel and knowing you are changing from the inside out is important for you to be successful. Congratulations Linda on not just losing 20 lbs. but on really embracing the fact that food is your medicine. Your previous diet was adding to your pain due to its’ highly inflammatory nature and putting your mind to make these changes has brought you to optimal health and wellness.
