Client Spotlight on Emilia – Consistency for the Win
Emilia came to me at the end of May wanting to lose 25 lbs. and not feeling very confident in her ability to do so on her own. She was a busy mom of 4 and struggling to find the time for herself. When I looked at her diet, I saw that she had some really healthy habits in place but at the same time she was inconsistent and ate several fast food meals out a week as well as heavy carb meals for dinners. She liked a good variety of foods and was willing to make the changes necessary to meet her goals.
She was also not exercising routinely. She had a gym membership but was not comfortable going but was more than willing to do workouts at home. She started with my Two Week Detox Plan and right off the bat lost 8 lbs. She continued to follow her Lifestyle Diet Plan, logging consistently, for the next 2 months and exceeded her 25 lb. goal at the end of July and at 3 months she was down 30 lbs. She has since revised her goal to lose another 5 lbs. and I am happy to announce that she recently met that final goal mid September.
At the same time that she started with her new lifestyle diet, she began to move more. She has consistently been hiking and walking to meet her step goals and has started to weight train at home. Emilia started out at at 190 and 39.4% body fat and as of the beginning of September she weighed 158 lbs. and 28.9% body fat. She literally lost all body fat and no muscle in this process which is amazing and a testament to the importance of working out and weight training when trying to lose weight.
When I asked Emilia what made her so successful and in such a short time she told me:
1. Having a support system with my husband, friends, and you was really what made this experience successful. Cooking Mary’s recipes and having her message me every morning on the app made it easy to stay on track.
2. I changed my food from the very beginning and haven’t looked back. I think that knowing how harmful the ingredients were for me and my family has kept me reading labels and making the right choices.
3. I now plan ahead for busy days. With 4 children I have very busy days. I need to know in advance what foods I will need to bring or what we can stop to eat if needed.
I am amazed at Emilia’s progress and in such a short time! She truly worked hard for this but at the same time she enjoyed her food and activity and I feel confident her new lifestyle will be long lasting. My hope is that she is also a great example for her kids to grow up healthy and fit. I wish Emilia the best of health always as she continues this amazing lifestyle journey.
