Client Spotlight on Patrice – Proper Fueling Leads to Success at 60

Patrice contacted me in mid-February with some frustrations regarding her weight.  At 59 years old, she considered herself to be very active but suffered from anxiety, memory issues, arthritis, poor sleep and resistance to weight loss.

In her initial consultation I learned that she worked out 3-5 times a week but she was inconsistent with her weight training and didn’t always move enough during the day.  She would work out in the morning then wait until either 11 or 12 to eat, thinking that intermittent fasting was a good thing for her body.  As we would find out, her body was not getting the most benefits from her workouts since she wasn’t recovering.

Her diet was healthy for the most part but her meals were pushed out so that most of her calories were between 6 and 8 pm.  A few meals out per week and some evening snacks all prevented her from meeting her weight loss goals.

We set some goals for Patrice to start getting her weight training 3 times a week along with a daily step goal of 10,000 steps.  In addition, she began with my Two Week Detox Plan so we could get her off any inflammatory foods, lower blood sugar and determine if there were any foods causing inflammation in her body.  During these initial 2 weeks she started having some amino acids before her workouts and eating 3 meals a day.  In just a short 2 weeks she was down 7 lbs. and had faith that fueling her body properly was actually working.

She continued to follow her personal Lifestyle Plan and logging her food daily for accountability.  Two months after starting her program with me she is down 14 lbs. And has surpassed her initial weight loss goal and feels great.  Best of all her sleep has improved, anxiety decreased and the fog has lifted in her brain.  What is truly remarkable are the results from her In Body Scan:

Her body weight went from 139.7 to 122 lbs. while her body fat went from 24.6% to 15% and she maintained her muscle mass of 57.3 lbs. These are amazing results because most people will lose muscle mass.  In addition, Patrice was injured during some of this time and has not fully done her weight training.  In my opinion, her refueling her body properly both after exercise and having the Perfect Aminos before exercise, along with proper nutrition during the day has allowed her body to truly benefit from her exercise.

When I asked Patrice what she thinks helped her meet her goals she told me:

1. Refueling my body after workouts not only allowed me to benefit from the exercise but I realized I felt better having more energy during the day.
2. Logging food with daily coaching from Mary helped me to quickly learn from things but also just to be accountable to calories and macros and moving.
3. Learning the importance of quality, only eating real food without toxins or chemicals which harm our metabolism and health.

Congratulations to Patrice!  She was a little reluctant to do the program but I’m so glad she took the chance and made the changes.  She now has the tools for a lifetime of not just maintaining her weight but of improving her longevity and wellness for years to come.  Wishing her the best of health always.
