Some of My Favorite Things for Healthy Snacks and Bars
I am always on the look out for healthy snacks and bars. This list is not that long but when I find a new one that fits my approval I will add to it. Unfortunately, many of the bars and snacks available on the market are full of dangerous artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols. In addition, many of them are too high in sugar. But if you find a new one I encourage you to run it by me and I will consider adding it to this list if it fits my criteria.
Brad’s Raw Chips – Brad is a real person who lost 40 lbs. on a raw diet and invented these chips to satisfy the missing crunch he used to get from chips and crackers. He started experimenting with raw chips made from fresh vegetables, sprouted flax seeds, fruit nuts, buckwheat groats and an array of spices. He dehydrated the chips, keeping the temperature below 115 degrees, which keeps them a raw food. These chips are a lifesaver for me as I also miss crunch in my diet a lot!
Le Pain des Feurs Crispbreads come in a variety of flavors. The traditional cracker aisle is full of boxes containing chemicals, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats and an array of “fake” ingredients we don’t need in our diet. All of Le pain des Fleurs are 100% organic, gluten free, kosher, GMO free, dairy free, egg free, low fat, cholesterol free, low sodium, vegan and made from only 3 ingredients. Four large crackers are only 60 calories and 11 net carbs so they are perfect as an addition to a meal or snack.
Paleo Protein Bars – Chocolate Brownie – These chocolate brownie bars contain 20 g of protein from egg whites, are sweetened with monk fruit and contain only 5 net carbs. Each bar is 170 calories so it is considered a complete meal replacement for your protein. Sweetened with monk fruit, gluten free, GMO free and high in fiber these bars are another great choice for a healthy quick grab.
Paleo Sunbutter Bars – These are my all time favorite bars from this company! They are made from only 4 organic ingredients – egg whites (from Cage FREE USA Farms), organic prebiotic fiber (from tapioca), organic sunflower seeds, monk fruit extract. They have 150 calories and only 5 net carbs. High in fiber yet they don’t bloat you at all! These bars taste to me like eating a caramel candy – chewy and sweet! These bars are my Number 1 Pick for my Top 5 Picks for Healthy Protein Bars list.
Paleo Peanut Butter Bars – These are brand new and made with egg white protein (don’t make a mistake and buy the ones made with grass fed beef). They only have 5 ingredients – egg whites, organic peanut butter, organic peanut pieces, organic tapioca fiber and organic monk fruit extract. These 170 calorie bars pack in 20 grams of protein with only 3 net carbs and 1 g of sugar.
PeganVanilla Cinnamon Bars – These vegan and paleo bars are also one of my favorite. Softer than the Sunbutter bars but just as yummy these are perfect for the vegetarian that needs a little more plant based protein in their diet. Great for traveling or on the go snacks.
Pegan Chocolate Lava Bars – Another great option for vegans who also want a bar that fits with paleo guidelines. Soft and chocolatey these just might become your favorite ones.
IQ Bar – This tasty bar comes in many flavors. At 180 calories it makes a hearty snack. With just 3 net carbs, 1 gram of sugar and 12 grams of plant-based protein this bar could be your next best friend.
Raw Revolution Glo Bars– This raw superfoods bar is made from organic and plant-based ingredients. It’s high protein, high fiber, low net carbs and low sugar. Certified gluten free, vegan, kosher and non-GMO, this tasty bar is a real treat! These amazing, tasty bars make my Top 5 Picks for Healthy Protein Bars list.
Epic All Natural Meat Bars – Variety Sampler -The epic bar is a 100% grass fed animal based protein bar. Paleo friendly, gluten free, nitrate free and low in sugar this is a healthy alternative to conventional jerky. These bars are perfect as a traveling protein source for a meal or snack. They make my Top 5 Picks for Healthy Protein Bars list.
KIND Bar Nuts and Spice – All 24 flavors of the KIND Nuts and Spice bars are low sugar and high fiber with enough protein for that in between meal snack. These are perfect to carry with you especially if you travel. KIND Strong bars also are low in sugar. Beware of other types of KIND bars such as the Fruit and Nuts variety that are too high in sugar.
Perfect Mini Bar – These little gems are a great choice for a snack although they do require refrigeration. I like the mini bars better then the large ones because they fit the requirements for my Top 5 Picks for Healthy Protein Bars list. They have 13 grams of protein and make a nice recovery snack after a workout.
Purely Elizabeth Bars – I’m excited to add a new bar to this blog. These tasty bars come in 3 flavors and are made of all real food ingredients. They contain a nice balance of carbs from fiber and natural sugars along with a little protein. They won’t replace a meal but could be an excellent snack for someone in a pinch.
ProGranola – Grain free, gluten free, guilt free. High protein, low net carbs and low calorie deliciousness. Enjoy it with some unsweetened nut milk or coconut yogurt for a meal or snack.
If you are vegan check out the vegan version of Vegan ProGranola which uses pea protein verses eggs as the protein source.
ProGranola Peanut Butter Cluster – If you like peanut butter then this is the one for you. Yummy peanut taste with an awesome crunch and the same high protein, low net carbs and low calorie cereal. Great for a snack or meal.
ProGranola Chocolate Clusters – Who said chocolate cereal was just for kids? This granola, like the others above won’t hurt your clean eating plan and makes a great meal or snack.
Real Coconut Chips – This grain free chip is a perfect substitute for traditional chips without all the carbs. Cooked in real organic coconut oil and topped with Himalayan Pink Sea Salt this chip is good for people looking for grain free, paleo, vegan, gluten free or a tasty chip. Just 12 net carbs in a serving makes them ideal for your low carb lifestyle.
Flex Protein Crisps – For the crunch lover that just can’t keep their hands out of the chips, heres a healthy one that won’t ruin your clean eating plan. These are made from a non GMO soy and provide 90 calories, 10 grams of protein and just 6 net carbs per serving. Enjoy them with lunch or as part of a snack.
ChocZero’s Keto Bark – While I do love my own easy version of Dark Carob Crisp and Dark Almond Bark, if you need something more portable this is a great option. Very clean and only 150 calories and 3 net carbs per serving.
