Diet Combined With Exercise Is Key to Successful Weight Loss
Believe it or not, Mary was one of my very first clients, training with me before I even started BodyDesigns back in 2003. At the time I worked in a small gym in Alpharetta. Mary came into the gym one day and picked me out to be her trainer. Mary has made huge changes in her lifestyle since the day I met her but she spent a number of years trying to skip the most important part of losing weight and becoming well and that would be the diet.
Over the years Mary has trained with me on and off, sometimes needing to take a break for different reasons. Each time I would begin by telling her that she is in good physical shape but to get the fat off your body you will need to change your diet. She would laugh and say, “Well, Mar, at least I’m exercising so I’m not gaining weight.” And she was right! Exercise, such as by playing sports which may feature an arrow quiver, has many health benefits one of which is weight maintenance. Most Americans will continue to gain weight each year without doing some exercise.
About 6 months ago, Mary called me up after taking a little “break” from exercise. She said, “Mary, can I please come back and train and I promise to follow a diet plan this time and do my cardio!”. Mary had gained some weight and felt horrible after a short break from exercising and as she got older she realized that the fat was piling on and she would need to make some changes if she wanted to maintain her health and look good.
This time around I’m very proud to say that Mary is a Client Spotlight! She has embraced her clean eating plan, makes time for her cardio sessions and does weights on a regular basis. She has lost 15 lbs., fits back into all her clothes and feels and looks fabulous!

“I’d heard you tell me time and time again that I needed to change my diet but I never really believed it until I looked in the mirror one day and saw I had gained weight and realized my clothes didn’t fit anymore. I have always had a small waist, but things were changing and my flat belly was not flat anymore. It seemed to happen overnight! I saw you working hard at your diet and exercise and maintaining your weight year after year and it just finally hit me that I could do something about this! I could actually listen to your advice for a change! Once I made my mind up to actually “do it right this time” as you always say, I found that you gave me all the tools to make it fit into my lifestyle and there were no excuses for not doing it. Your recipes for quick and easy meals and snacks and your advice on how to prepare in advance made it possible and easy to follow. Now it’s part of my daily lifestyle whether I go away or stay at home. I also found that the Peak 8 cardio workouts you gave me to do have been incredible for burning calories and toning my muscles. For the first time I am able to put skinny jeans on and they are loose in my thighs!! This is huge for me! Mary stayed with me and motivated me every step of the way. I feel great and I’m just sorry I didn’t do it right the first time around!”
