Client Spotlight on Kyla – Getting Results with Accountability

Kyla came to me when she just couldn’t lose weight and felt tired and defeated.  She had very strictly adhered to Whole 30 and knew what to eat and could not figure out why the weight was not falling off.

When I interviewed her, I found that in addition to struggling with her weight, she struggled with fatigue, migraines, bloating, hormonal issues and hypoglycemia.  She was not exercising but was trying to eat strictly Whole 30 clean.

Taking a close look at her diet I found that she really did have some healthy choices in her day and she was off some inflammatory foods for the most part however, there was inconsistency where she went off the plan and ate fast food from a variety of places.  In addition, she was not accountable to any type of calorie or macronutrient count throughout her time on Whole 30.

So two issues stood out right away – Kyla was eating too many calories of a mixture of good and bad stuff and eating too much hidden sugar in some of her snacks.  I felt strongly that if we could get her to be consistent and be accountable to what she actually ate that she would not only lose the weight but feel better.

Kyla started with the Two Week Detox Plan and lost 6.5 lbs.  This was not much for the detox but she was already off many inflammatory foods so it didn’t surprise me and she felt great so we moved onto the Lifestyle Plan.

Kyla also felt better and began to exercise.  Following her Lifestyle Plan she continued to lose weight and 2 months after meeting with me she has lost 20 lbs. and feels amazing.  She started at 160 and is now 140 which is just 5 lbs. from her goal weight in just 2 months!

When I asked her what helped her to be successful, she told me:

1. This was a lifestyle plan that was easy to follow and provided the guidance needed for getting the proper balance of protein and nutrients.  Challenging gluten and dairy and realizing the impact those foods have on my overall energy has made it easy to cut them out for good.  The increase in my energy from following Mary’s plan is amazing.  While I still have my days of feeling ‘mom’ tired from chasing after three kids I still have plenty of energy to function throughout the day without desperately needing a nap.

2. The experience of working with Mary as my coach and logging my food has been eye opening.  I had followed Whole 30 but this really broke it down and helped me gain a better grasp of portion control and balancing meals throughout the day to maintain energy levels.

3. Keeping the right foods in my body consistently allowed me to finally feel good so that exercise became possible.
